Rehearsing the Green Paper on Adult Social Care
Care England, the largest representative body for independent providers of adult social care, has responded to the Local Government Association’s (LGA) paper on the Social Care Green Paper noting that it is a helpful exercise in rehearsing the expectations of a reformed and sustainable care system that delivers high quality personalisedcare and empowers the individual, whilst looking ahead to the Government’s long promised Green Paper.
Professor Martin Green OBE, Chief Executive of Care England says:
“Whilst we welcome this initiative, the instability of the care market carries on unchecked. The Government must address the urgency of the care crisis as otherwise all the promises of the Green Paper become rather academic. Care England’s analysis shows that councils are struggling, with 37% unable to use their Adult Social Care Precept option next year and one in five councils who told us about their fee levels gave no inflation rise to prices paid for nursing care home placements in 2018/19.”
