Respite Care for Parkinson’s Carers
Universal Care and the Amersham Branch of Parkinson’s UK are proud to announce a joint innovative project to support People with Parkinson’s and their loved ones.
Universal Care have teamed up with local Parkinson’s UK group to provide fully funded respite care to people with Parkinson’s and their loved ones.
Looking after a person with Parkinson’s is a demanding role and many carers do not take a break because they are worried about leaving their partner or loved one alone. Taking a break from caring is vital to ensure that the carer looks after themselves, their dedicated love and support goes unrecognised and it is for this reason that Universal Care and local Parkinson’s UK group have taken action to address this problem.
Universal Care will provide trained carers to care for people with Parkinson’s while their loved one takes a well-earned break. Already a number of Parkinson’s UK carers are benefiting from the scheme but there is capacity for more respite care to be provided.
The respite break could be just a couple of hours each week so that the loved one can go shopping, get their hair done or play golf – whatever they chose to do.
Remember that this is a fully funded project so absolutely free to the person with Parkinson’s and their family.
