Road Farm Countryways – June 2017
National Open Farm Sunday is on 11th June, when over 300 farms around the UK will be open to the public. Road Farm (just Wendover side of Great Missenden) will be open to everyone from 1.30pm – 4.30pm for free. We’re also having a Barn Dance on 10th June to have fun and raise funds for the Community Interest Company to improve facilities for disabled farm helpers and educational visits. Dancing to the Wick Trimmers with special guest folk singer Isla StClair and a sausage sizzle supper. Tickets £15 adult, children £5 available from Wendy Gray. Do join us at either event, preferably both!
Working farms across the Chilterns make a huge contribution to conserving both our natural and built heritage and some, like Road Farm, encourage educational visits and help those with special needs through hosting active Care Farming opportunities. To quote one Farm Helper’s relative: “He behaves differently after visiting, he’d rather he could stay on and do more there!”
To find out more about all the amazing things that happen on the farm (also just short-listed for a Bayer/FACE award!), do join us on Open Farm Sunday or visit www.roadfarmcountryways.com and speak to Wendy or Duncan. Offers to help always welcomed.
