Road Farm Countryways CIC Update
Our grateful thanks to all who’ve helped Road Farm Countryways CIC in 2017, whether as regular Care Farmers or helping fundraise. We involve people with a range of difficulties, disabilities and complex needs to actively work with animals and help maintain the countryside. Some are very physically able with supervised use of hand tools, others need help to fill a box with straw, or to be given the hose to fill a bucket of water, which we may carry together. Our young adults were delighted that the Kung-Fu Crow-Fighter Scarecrow we made together for the Lindengate competition, protected seeds in the wheat field (spot her from the west side of the train just north of Great Missenden).
Over 2017 we welcomed visits from Scouts, Cubs, Guides, Rotary, WI, Art groups, various schools, PACE and over 400 locals on Open Farm Sunday. We had a fantastic Barn Dance with Isla StClair’s magical singing and the Wick Trimmer band’s fantastic playing raising over £800 for our Terrific Toilets appeal. We have a beautiful new Countryways Kitchen, generously funded by the Rothschild Foundation to enable Field to Fork cookery here with all our Farm Helpers, also benefitting the schools which visit. We’re about to finish an adjacent all-purpose room so we’re no longer confined to the tent and out-door barns. In early 2018 we start our first Countrymen’s Club for rural-loving older gentlemen enduring life’s challenges. The farm is a wonderful place to be part of!
