Santa Visits Patients at the NSIC

Santa pays a visit to patients at the NSIC

Santa Claus and his elves paid a special visit to patients at the National Spinal Injuries Centre (NSIC) at Stoke Mandeville Hospital on Thursday 18 December.

Sarah Standish, family counsellor for the NSIC, set up the Christmas Cheer Committee (CCC) and asked for help from staff to provide an afternoon of festive fun for patients who will be remaining in the NSIC over the Christmas period.

Christmas is the time of year where we want to spend time with our families and loved ones, which makes it a hard time for those who need to continue their care in hospital,” said Sarah. “We wanted to be able to lift our patient’s spirits in any way we could. Staff volunteered to help Santa for the afternoon and, with the generous donations of presents from Wendover Rotary Club, we were able to bring some Christmas cheer to the centre.”

Wendover Rotary Club members collected and wrapped over eighty gifts for their donation. Member Sandra Maizels said “We have been delighted to work with the NSIC and Santa. On behalf of the Rotary Club we would like to send every good wish to people in the NSIC at Christmas time and hope they enjoy their presents.”
