School Pupils crowned Winners of Site Safety Poster Competition

Helping to promote site safety at Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Eagles’ Rest development in Milton Keynes, two inventive pupils from St Mary’s Wavendon C of E Primary School have claimed the top prize in a health and safety poster design competition.

The leading developer enlisted the help of local school children to design a poster that aimed to draw attention to the hazards of playing near building sites.

After accepting a wonderful variety of entries from the school, located nearby the homebuilder’s Fen Street development, Barratt and David Wilson Homes chose Amber (10) and Fabio (11) as the competition winners for their imaginatively designed posters.

What stood out in the two winning entries were the use of vibrant colours, excellent illustrations and valuable information relating to health and safety in construction.

Amber and Fabio were both presented with £25 book tokens by Marketing Co-ordinator James Kalicki as a reward for their beautifully designed posters and a contribution to Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ efforts to promote site safety. Both entries will now be displayed in the marketing suites at Eagles’ Rest.

Jason Hearn, Sales Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes South Midlands, said: “It’s important that we raise awareness of the dangers of building sites with school children from an early age, especially with many families now settling down at Eagles’ Rest.

“It’s our duty to make children aware of the hazards and we can’t thank the pupils of St Mary’s Wavendon C of E Primary School enough for assisting us with promoting site safety.

“We would like to thank all of the children who took part in our poster competition. It was a pleasure to work with the school on this project and the high quality of the entries demonstrated the pupils completely recognise the value of health and safety.”

Amanda Dicks, Headteacher, at St Mary’s Wavendon C of E Primary School, said: “It is important that our children are made aware of the potential dangers of construction sites of which there are many in Milton Keynes. This competition has allowed our children to be creative in their approach to putting this message across to others.”

Barratt and David Wilson Homes currently has a selection of two, three and four bedroom homes available at Eagle’s Rest with prices starting from £254,995.
