Second time lucky wins the jackpot!
A local member of The Hospice Lottery, Mrs M from Aylesbury, could not believe her luck on Friday 23 March 2018 when she received a call to say that despite this only being her second week in the lottery draw she had won the £10,000 Rollover prize.
Along with the weekly guaranteed prizes of £1,000, £100 x 3, £20 x 30 and £10 x 80, the bonus Rollover prize, which had been rolling for the last 49 weeks and collecting £200 each time it rolled, had reached a grand total of £10,000.
An initially speechless, and incredibly delighted Mrs M from Aylesbury said that the windfall couldn’t have come at a better time:
“Receiving this windfall is amazing. My husband and I are about to open a new business in town so are currently living on a very tight budget, with two young daughters and a birthday coming up it isn’t easy. This will help us enormously we can treat our daughter to the perfect princess party, book a holiday and take our parents out for a very special meal, all things we would not have been able to do.
“Having seen first-hand the brilliant care that my family and friends have received over the years from my local hospice, I really wanted to do my bit to help. I know they rely on the support of the local community so when I met one of The Hospice Lottery promoters in Aylesbury and he explained how joining the lottery for only £4.34 a month really helps people in the local community, I thought it was a great thing to do. I honestly never expected to win anything, that wasn’t the reason I joined.”
The Hospice Lottery is celebrating 20 years of raising funds for its five hospice partners – Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity, Michael Sobell Hospice, Rennie Grove Hospice Care, The Hospice of St Francis and The South Bucks Community Hospice – and has distributed over £10 million to them to date.
