We believe that everyone deserves to live a happy life, in a safe place free from harm and neglect, and one of our most important roles as a Council is to protect our residents, but we cannot do this alone. We need everyone to play their part to help tackle adult abuse and neglect.
Last year we received close to 12,000 reports of suspected abuse and neglect of an adult living in Buckinghamshire. Some vulnerable adults may not even know that they’re a victim, that’s why adult safeguarding is everyone’s business.
Please also take five minutes to look through our Safeguarding pages which provides all the information you need to know about the types of adult abuse, how to recognise the signs of abuse and neglect and how to contact us if you are worried about someone.
It could be a neighbour, family member, friend, colleague or a total stranger – if you suspect someone is being abused or neglected, or if something doesn’t look or feel right; please don’t ignore it. Speak out.
