Serco raise Funds for RAFA and Cancer Research UK – Aylesbury Branch
As an initiative from the Serco Senior Management Team, a committee of Serco personnel from RAF Halton were formed to discuss items that concern employees, build engagement and communication and to organise events. This committee, headed by Kate Rutherford from the photographic section, is called ‘The Finishing Touch’. Other members of the team are: Sally Phillips, Workshops; Kayleigh Gill, SCAS; Elaine Bird, Travel Cell; Danny Corcoran, Initial Kitting; Gill Reader, Accommodation Cleaning Manager, and John Anderson, Armoury.
It was decided to hold a Christmas Charity evening at the RAFA Club in the lead up to Christmas with a quiz night, secret auction and raffle. John Kumela from Barrack Stores won the secret auction and the prize, donated by a Finishing Touch Committee member, was two Eurostar tickets. Michael Higgins, Workshop Manager, won 1st Prize for the raffle, a two night stay in a cottage in the Peak District, donated by Paul Catling of Grove Lock Marina, Leighton Buzzard and Serco donated £90 to the RAFA Club.
The funds raised on the night reached a staggering £850.05p and this week a cheque was presented by Wing Commander Niki Stacey and MAC Contract Manager, Keith Shelley, to Relay for Life Cancer Research UK, Aylesbury Branch. Keith Shelley said: “This has been a very successful initiative and the committee have done well to raise the amount and give Serco personnel a morale boost.”
