Service by volunteers focus in the daily council video update
How volunteers on a large Aylesbury estate are serving their community during the coronavirus emergency is highlighted in today’s (Tuesday) daily video update (Vlog) from Buckinghamshire Council Leader Martin Tett.
Joining Martin is Mark Winn, local Bedgrove councillor, who talks about how the community is benefiting from the efforts of a volunteers group he leads, which is supporting those self-isolating, doing essential shopping, and running a befriending service through the Covid-19 crisis.
He also introduces their telephone helpline ‘Happy Chatters’, run by volunteer Margaret Huggett to keep in touch with those self-isolating.
“This is all brilliant community spirit,” says Mark. “We need a legacy of this volunteering going forward, once all this is finished.”

The daily Vlog, supporting the message #ProudofBucks, also provides an opportunity for people to ask questions via social media on how the council is fighting Coronavirus locally, what residents can do to stay safe, and how they can get involved in helping others – using the #askBucksCouncil Twitter hashtag.
Vlogs will also be shared daily on the council’s social media channels.
