Summer Science Festival at Discover Bucks Museum

This summer Discover Bucks Museum in Aylesbury is packed full of things to explore and discover. Our family science festival will amaze children with over 20 hands-on interactive exhibits about forces in the ‘Feel the Force’ exhibition, including an anti-gravity wheel, magnetic fields, whirlpools, windy city, magnetic pendulum and flying wing plus lots more fun science activities to discover around the museum. Children and parents will love exploring science in this fun and informal way.

Feel the Force Summer Science Festival runs from 25 July to 3 September.

The museum is also home to the fabulous Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery where children can explore the world around them through the stories of Roald Dahl; crawl along Fantastic Mr Fox’s tunnel, investigate minibeasts inside the Giant Peach and discover sound with the BFG.

A visit is not complete without experiencing our brand-new galleries which display 200 million years of Bucks history. See the bones of a ferocious sea monster dug up in Aylesbury, a 3000-year-old Bronze Age sword and the Lenborough hoard of Anglo-Saxon coins. Also on display for the first time will be one of the Roman statue heads from the recent excavation at Stoke Mandeville old church. The galleries are a fantastic way to bring history to life.

Also don’t miss our Buck Culture Open Day on 30 July. Join us in a celebration of trees and Buckinghamshire’s green woodworking heritage. Find out fascinating facts about the Aylesbury Prune, the town’s endangered Black Poplars and many other trees through our mini exhibition and family activities.
