Summer Shows set to leave you beggin’ for more!

Aylesbury Waterside Theatre has announced a summer season to remember as they celebrate their 5th birthday year with an eclectic mix of West End musicals, live music, dance and drama. Not to mention the launch of their first ever Aylesbury Waterside Theatre Musical Theatre Project.

The West End phenomenon telling the story of four boys from the wrong side of the tracks, Jersey Boys is making its Waterside debut in a musical featuring legendary hits including Beggin’, Can’t take my Eyes Off You, Sherry, Walk Like A Man and Big Girls Don’t Cry. This true life story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons is one not to be missed.

Who says puppets are just for kids?! Boasting the Tony Awards ‘Triple Crown’ for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book, Avenue Q is hilarious, cheeky and uproariously entertaining whilst being part flesh, part felt and packed full of heart. Critically acclaimed First World War musical Oh What A Lovely War starring Wendi Peters adds to this Summer’s musical line-up, offering a musical tribute to the men and women who saved our nation 100 years ago.

Award-winning Father Ted, Shameless and Eastenders screen icon, Pauline McLynn is heading up the Khan family in one of the best British modern comedies, East is East, and Alan Ayckbourn’s Absent Friends tells the story of a tea party that descends into chaos in a play full of acute social observations as lingering resentments and deep-rooted jealousies surface.

Summer heat is sure to be in abundance when the world premiere of Vincent and Flavia takes to the stage. The nation’s best-loved argentine Tango Champions Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace give you the chance to experience what they do best in an intimate, passionate and explosive experience. Powerful storytelling and breath-taking dance arrives with the welcome return of Northern Ballet bringing two stunning ballets; Madame Butterfly and Perpetuum Mobile – showing the dancers at their athletic best. Northern Ballet also present a retelling for younger ballet fans of the famous Brothers Grimm story, Elves and the Shoemaker. Young dance talent joins forces with professional principal dancers in English Youth Ballet’s Swan Lake, a traditional production with emphasis on the rivalry between the evil Black Swan Odile, and beautiful White Swan Odette.

Minds are set to be boggled with the return of Derren Brown and his latest brand new show, Miracle. Universally acclaimed by critics and audiences alike, see the master of psychological illusion demonstrating why he’s one of the world’s most renowned live performers; a dark manipulator of magic and mind control.

Act fast to see the latest touring shows – with Milton Jones, Michael McIntyre and Reginald D Hunter from the world of comedy, kids’ favourites Sooty, Chuckles of Oz and Basil Brush, and the circuit’s best tribute shows including The Billy Joel Songbook, One Night of Elvis, Illegal Eagles, The Chicago Blues Brothers and The Bootleg Beatles. Friars Aylesbury returns with live music from King Crimson, and a soulful date for the diary sees American trio, The Three Degrees delivering a spectacular onstage show. Other Second Space one night shows include the remarkably compelling psychic Tony Stockwell and The Neil Diamond Story, returning due to popular demand.

The Waterside’s first Musical Theatre Project will see 8 – 21 year olds take part in creating and performing a brand new musical, and this year’s Christmas Party dates are now on sale!
