Suppliers Supply Local Care Home

Logistics and Supply Basic Training Course 203 have made a donation of £150 to a local Wendover nursing home. Every course carries out a local engagement event and the trainees decided to make theirs the Chiltern Care Home after being invited to the home at Christmas to entertain the residents with a carol service.

Most of the money was made at a quiz night in the Squadron tea bar where the course devised questions on various topics and invited all the trainees, instructing and admin staff to attend.

Anne Caley, Activities Leader, and Bev Swan, Team Leader, from the care home brought residents Lionel Robinson and Hilda Donovan to the presentation. Hilda was a ship side rope maker and fire warden during the war. Anne said: “This is a fantastic donation and will be wisely spent on activities. After they came to sing for us I wrote to the Station Commander to say thank you and it came about that they wanted to make us their local engagement event. We are so very grateful and wish them well in their careers.”

AC David Cunningham said: “After the carol singing we decided as a course to split into three groups and come up with themes for a quiz night. The night went very well, with a good turn out. Other money was made from a raffle with personnel donating prizes and cakes baked by the Squadron Warrant Officer’s wife.”
