Supporting local culture the focus at Beaconsfield and Chepping Wye’s latest Community Board meeting

Support for cultural, heritage and arts projects was top of the agenda at Beaconsfield and Chepping Wye Community Board’s latest meeting. Now the board is bringing together a group to harness local enthusiasm and progress ideas which could include local heritage trails, textile projects and partnerships with schools.

Members of the Community Board were also excited to hear that ways for residents to play their part in local initiatives to address climate change will start to be explored by a dedicated subgroup for the first time on 23 February.

Cllr Anita Cranmer, Chair of the Beaconsfield and Chepping Wye Community Board, said: “From the strength of feeling at the meeting it seems the pandemic has been a reminder for many of us of the importance of our arts, culture and heritage in Buckinghamshire. Our subgroup needs local people and groups who share our passion to support and develop this sector in our area during this challenging time, so if this matters to you please get in touch and get involved.”

Anyone who would like to be involved with these groups looking at culture or climate change, or who has ideas for projects on these themes which the board may want to support, should email bcwcb@buckinghamshire.gov.uk.

The Community Board also agreed, at its meeting on 16 February, funding applications towards local projects including the Community Garden project with Beaconsfield Town Council, an accessible ‘nest’ swings project with Penn Parish Council and a heating system at Hazlemere Scout Hut.
