Team Cammack Walk for Sense

A team from local Opticians Ivan Cammack walked 26 miles of The Ridgeway on 22nd June to raise money for the deafblind Charity Sense. £2457 has been raised so far by the team of four, which included staff from across the three branches of Ivan Cammack in Thame, Wendover and Chinnor.

Trish D’Anger, Ruth Pigott, Gill Millns and Ruth Scott-Smith started the walk at midnight and trekked for ten hours from Oxfordshire to Wiltshire, fighting the rain and wind in what was supposed to be midsummer weather. They said: “We decided to support Sense because sight is so importantto ourpatientsand hearing loss has recently affected one of our staff members. Our senses are so important to help people connect with the world around them. Deafblindness is not just a deaf person who cannot see, or a blind person who cannot hear. The two impairments together increase the effects of each”.

Anyone interested in helping the walkers take their total towards the £3000 mark can make donations on www.justgiving.com/IvanRCammack
