Terrific Transformations 2019
Terrific Transformations are happening down on the Farm! Thanks to fundraising through individuals, trusts, foundations (The Roland Callingham Foundation, Mobbs Memorial Trust, CLA Charitable Trust, Great Missenden Rotary, Sweet Charity, Paradigm Foundation) and a hefty sum of £74,950 from the HS2 Community Environment Fund, there are new toilet facilities including an adult disabled changing place at Road Farm Countryways CIC near Great Missenden. Situated alongside the working farm, Care Farming is for people with a range of health and learning problems as a route to feeling better. There’s also a welcome for schools and other special interest groups to arrange visits to find out about farming, local history, wildlife, bush-craft, archery, even accessible cookery. The revamped building also includes a workshop for wood-craft activities, enabling new skills and use of local materials.
“Our Farm Helpers enjoy active involvement on the farm with the animals and surrounding countryside, whatever ability, there is so much to do, to learn, enjoy and make you feel better,” says Wendy Gray, Manager, “We’re so grateful to all those who’ve helped us achieve these special facilities.”
Soon to celebrate its 5th Birthday, Countryways CIC need more volunteers to help in a variety of roles, including with the regular Monday Countrymen’s Club for retired countrymen, so do contact Wendy or Duncan Gray.
