The Film & TV Academy
The Film & TV Academy is an Aylesbury based children’s activity club where students come to create film & TV projects using professional film kit, and guided by industry professionals. The company was launched in 2021 due to local demand for filmmaking & acting lessons for young people who wanted to learn the skills of film as opposed to the craft of stage acting.
FTA was launched by Gabriel Steele & Jamie Coe, two award winning filmmakers and best friends, who run film production company Steele & Coe Films, and have been making films together since the age of nine. When they were sixteen, they were at BAFTA seeing their short film “The Question” screened and picking up an award at the Reed Short Film Competition. The pair have many years experience teaching film and acting to young people, and decided to launch FTA to provide the kind of club they would have loved to attend when they were children.
The Film & TV Academy operates every Sunday at Pebble Brook School in Aylesbury, from 09:45am to 13:00pm, and is open to anyone between the age of 5 – 18. There are x3 groups depending on a students age, and each class works to develop film projects ready for an annual cinema screening at Odeon cinema!
