The Future of Wendover News – update, April 2023
You may already be aware that Wendover News Ltd – the company behind this publication – is in the process of handing the reins over to the community of Wendover and the surrounding villages. Work progresses to ensure a smooth transition to the new company, which is likely to be formed in the next few weeks. We are taking care to protect the interests of our advertisers so that they will be able to stay in contact with their customers throughout and after the transition.
We are currently working with a small number of volunteers to form a Foundation Board for the new company, which will be entirely owned and led by the people of Wendover and the surrounding villages. If you would like to be involved in the establishment of a new company either as a director, mentor or any other role, please write to jane@wendovernews.co.uk.
If you have already given us your details, we appreciate your patience during this very busy time. We hope to have met you together in person before the end of March and continuing into April to bring you up to date with everything that is going on. Most importantly, a big thank you to our small army of local deliverers – we wouldn’t have got this far without you!
Jane Larkham – Director, Wendover News Ltd
Spring is Sprung
As I write this, it’s snowing outside and feeling decidedly un-Springy. But things change quickly and soon warmer weather will be upon us, and with it all the novelty that Spring brings.
There are many events and activities taking place in and around our vibrant community in April; some are mentioned in the banner above, some in Events and some in other pages this month. Have a flick through – you may find something that interests you in a section that you don’t always read.
Thank you for supporting Wendover News for over 30 years. The advertisers who pay for space in the magazine help support the local groups who might otherwise not have their voices heard. And if finding an advert in the magazine doesn’t work for you, try the online business listings at https://wendovernews.co.uk/business-directory/ – you can search by business name or category, and everyone listed there is a Wendover News print advertiser, too.
The changes at Wendover News continue apace, and we expect that the April or May edition will be the final one produced by Wendover News Ltd, with the new CIC taking over soon. More about this on page 16 in the April edition.
One of the changes happening here is my departure. I’ve been with Wendover News nearly ten years and want the new company to have someone at its helm who can stamp the new entity with his or her own mark.
Those of you that know me know that I’m active in a few Wendover organisations and that will continue – if you want me, you’ll find me somewhere around Wendover once my stint as editor ends.
Finally, thanks to the teams who have worked with Wendover News Ltd in the past and moved it into its new future. This includes all the volunteer deliverers – your commitment is most commendable and valued; thank you for your time and effort.
Jackie Brown – Editor, Wendover News
