The Virtual Art Shop
The Virtual Art Shop is the online version of the popular art exhibition held by the Chilterns MS Centre (chilternsmscentre.org) every year. The event is one of their biggest annual fundraisers, but due to the pandemic the 2021 event could not take place, so the team at the charity decided to take the art to you instead.
A wide variety of work is available, much from local Bucks artists. Each piece is unique or from a limited run. Many depict special places in Buckinghamshire. Timeless classics from Mary Casserley or Nathalie Pymm to more contemporary animal portraits by Niki Bell. Or do you prefer detailed pencil drawings or abstract scenes from nature? Are you drawn to Cityscapes or sea escapes? Colourful flowers or serene skies? Whatever your preference, there is something for everyone.
As well as painting and prints there is also stunning handmade silver jewellery by Catherine Golds and dazzling glass from Reiko Ralph. Lastly there are simple yet intricate paper art from Pieces of Art or the stunning marble effects of Phil Madley’s encaustic wax paintings.
Whether you are looking for a picture for a particular room in your house, or a gift for someone special, there are beautiful pieces to suit all budgets. And if you’re an artist, the Centre also have the option to showcase more artists and you can find out more and sign up by visiting: https://www.chilternsmscentre.org/event/virtual-art-shop-2021/ or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
And the best bit of all is that every sale helps local people. The project raises funds for the Chilterns MS Centre, a local therapy centre in Wendover. The charity supports people living with multiple sclerosis to live a fulfilling life.
Buying something from their online art exhibition means that you are enabling someone with this debilitating and incurable condition to have much-needed physical therapy or emotional support. The Centre offers therapy as often as they need it – this support is not available long-term on the NHS. The team also offer practical advice and connect people to others who are going through the same thing.
