Toddlers Toddle to Raise Funds

Toddlers from Rainbows and Rattles nursery were out and about on RAF Halton last week raising money for the Barnardo’s Big Toddle.

The BigToddle is the UK’s biggest charity event for children up to five years of age. It’s a short sponsored walk for toddlers that raises money for Barnardo’s vital under 5s projects.

Roz Allen, Rainbows and Rattles supervisor, said: “The Big Toddle is Rainbows & Rattles main fundraising event each year and for my own daughter this was her fourth year. It’s a good opportunity to instil in the children the concept of doing something to help others whilst having fun. This year’s theme was nursery rhymes and fairy tales and the children had the opportunity to dress up if they wanted to. On our toddle we had Hickory Dickory Dock, Snow White, Rapunzel and Batman (because he wanted to be a superhero instead).

The children did very well and as the morning progressed their confidence in asking for donations increased. Our collection raised £143.55 plus we have £50 via our online giving page, and there is more money to come in via sponsorship forms. We will certainly raise over £200 which is fantastic”
