Travel Safe Bucks takes part in joined up Christmas campaign to remind you to drive safely this winter
Transport for Buckinghamshire’s road safety initiative, Travel Safe Bucks, has joined up with Thames Valley Police joint operations unit, Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM) to deliver an exciting winter driving campaign throughout December.
You might recognise Elf on the Shelf from his previous naughty festive antics in the lead up to Christmas. However, this campaign showcases Elf on the Shelf as you’ve never seen him before, getting up to no good and finding himself in compromising situations with the police, and even worse – Santa.
Covering all aspects of road safety, including drink and drug driving, the campaign aims to educate people about staying safe on the roads this winter while adding a little bit of tongue-in-cheek fun!
Steven Broadbent, Cabinet Member for Transport, said:
“This campaign is a lot of fun, but also shares crucial road safety messages that we often need reminding of. During the winter months we have fewer daylight hours, poorer weather conditions and witness the ‘party season’ where alcohol may be consumed, all of which can affect our behaviour on the roads and increase the risk for all road users.
“This campaign reminds us all of the key safety messages to be aware of if you’re travelling on the roads, whether that’s on a bike, one of Buckinghamshire Council’s Zipp e-scooters, in a vehicle…or even by sleigh!
“Make sure you’re following along with Elf’s journey on social media – I can’t wait to see what he gets up to!”
The joined up winter driving campaign runs every day from 1 – 24 December. Make sure you’re following Travel Safe Bucks, Thames Valley Roads Policing, RBWM and Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue on social media so you don’t miss it!
