Trek the Freedom Trail in aid of local hospice care

A stunning four-day trek through the rugged Pyrenees and along the beautiful Costa Brava coastline awaits experienced walkers looking for the trip of a lifetime.

Rennie Grove Hospice Care is offering you the rare opportunity to follow in the footsteps of wartime escapees who fled Nazi-occupied France to Spain by following a challenging route known as The Freedom Trail.

Rennie Grove’s Trek the Freedom Trail takes place from 12-17 June 2020, and promises a chance to – literally – step back in history in breath-taking and varied landscapes. This inspirational trek is home to stories of great bravery and hardship endured by Second World War airmen who crashed or were shot down over Europe, and hundreds of Jews and refugees desperate to flee to freedom.

By taking on the challenge you will help support the work of Rennie Grove Hospice Care, the local charity that provides specialist care and support for adults and children with a life-limiting illness and is there for their families too.

“Trekking the Freedom Trail on behalf of Rennie Grove will be a unique and unforgettable experience,” said Claire Redrup, Community Fundraising Manager at Rennie Grove. “The route is a treasure trove of natural beauty, wildlife and history.

“Anyone who signs up to follow the Trail on behalf of Rennie Grove will make memories that stay with them forever while raising money for a cause that will make a lasting difference to many local families coping with cancer and other life changing conditions.”

A £335 registration fee is payable to secure your place on the 2010 Trek. You are then asked to fundraise at least £2,500 for Rennie Grove Hospice Care, with full support of the charity’s fundraising team.

The cost includes flights from London, transport, accommodation, meals, local guides and support crew, trekking permits and 24-hour emergency support in all countries.

You must be aged 18 or above to take part. It may be possible to join the trip if you are 16 or 17, but you must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. There is no upper age limit.
