Trek through the Sahara to help local patients

Rennie Grove Hospice Care is offering adventure loving people the chance to experience the trip of a lifetime while raising money to support its service. The Sahara Desert Trek will take place in October 2014 and we are seeking two people to join the trip which also includes the opportunity to help out with a community project in Marrakech.

All trekkers will experience the vast and diverse Moroccan landscape during the trip which includes sand dune fields, rugged stony ground, dried up river beds, large rocky outcrops, wide gushing rivers and even snow-capped peaks. After reaching the desert, the trek starts in earnest with between 5 and 8 hours a day spent walking alongside camels through the desert landscape. There will also be the chance to learn about and experience first hand the culture of the local Berber people.

Trekkers will then spend two days helping on a range of tasks at a project in Marrakech, working to help improve the lives of people in the local community. The work will be undertaken in a team and might include renovating, redecoration, gardening, painting or other tasks, depending on the most urgent need at the time. After all that there will still be some free time to explore the exotic city of Marrakech before flying back to London.DSCF2546 Large (Preview)

The cost of this fantastic experience will be a deposit of £320 to secure your place. Participants are then asked to raise a minimum of £1,800 in sponsorship to help Rennie Grove Hospice Care reach its annual fundraising target.
