Tring’s Heritage is ‘App’ to date
Continuing the celebrations of Tring’s 700 year Market Charter but bringing it bang up to date, the town now has a Heritage Trail both on a map and an ‘app’ – probably the first in the County. These enable everyone to explore the many historic and interesting places in and around Tring.
The Heritage Trail is being launched during the Apple Fair on Saturday 10th October, at 2 pm at the town’s Local History Museum, The Market Place, Brook Street. All are welcome to come along and collect their full colour printed guide, and to begin the trail using the App for Apple or Android devices.
Thanks to the Heritage Lottery Fund, all this is free. Tring Local History Society Chairman Tim Amsden says: “Our town is full of history and this is an exciting way for many more people to engage with it. The App has many innovative features, such as the ability to superimpose your picture onto archive photographs of the same location. It includes a spoken commentary and covers many aspects of the town’s history, including its connection with the Rothschild family. It comes in a traditional print version too and there is also an Education Pack based on it which is available for schools.”
