Visit of Former Crossing Patroller to Wharf Road

On Friday 11 May a very special visitor arrived at the Crossing Patrol in Wharf Road. Pat, who was a Crossing Patroller at this spot many years ago, was celebrating her 80th birthday. Staff from St Leonard’s Care Home brought Pat to Wharf Road on a surprise outing to give her the chance to relive the very important job she did for local school children all those years ago. Also at the ‘party’ were six Junior Road Safety Officers from Wendover CE Junior School, members of staff, Corinne Randall from Bucks CC, a photographer from The Bucks Herald and, of course, our current Crossing Patroller, Sue West. Pat was delighted to be there and happily posed for numerous photos including many in the middle of the road. Passing motorists, seeing the happy gathering, waited patiently while Pat chatted and laughed with everyone. The Junior Road Safety Officers presented Pat with a special birthday card they had made, and passed on the warm wishes from staff and children at WCEJS who so much appreciate the incredibly important job our Crossing Patrollers do. Happy 80th Birthday Pat!
