Waddesdon Plant Centre to Close
After much deliberation the very hard decision has been made to close Waddesdon Plant Centre.
The business has, despite every endeavour, struggled to be profitable even with the incredible hard work of staff and the support of loyal customers. The garden centre world has changed radically and the competition from the supermarkets together with changing lifestyles has made it harder for the independent plant retailer to compete.
It is proposed that the Plant Centre shop and café will continue to operate during the usual winter opening hours until Friday 28 February 2014, which will be the last day of trading.
Some events normally held there will be re-located to the Manor grounds whilst new locations will be needed for others but all organisers and exhibitors will be informed.
Wherever possible the staff will be redeployed elsewhere at Waddesdon.
A spokesperson from Waddesdon said:
“The Plant Centre is a much loved place that is cherished by staff and customers alike and its closure will leave a real hole in life at Waddesdon but it has been necessary to make this commercial decision.”
