Walk the MS Mile

On Thursday 28 April, during MS Awareness Week appropriately enough, and in the company of long-standing corporate supporter Universal Care, the Chilterns MS Centre launched Walk the MS Mile 2016. Town Crier Dick Smith introduced Peter Cullimore of Universal Care who presented the charity with a donation of £1,000 and an engraved paperweight to mark the care company’s own 30th anniversary.
Robert Breakwell, Chilterns MS Centre Chief Executive, thanked everyone for attending the launch before Mayor of Beaconsfield John Read announced the mile walk open.
Thirty people walked a mile through Old Beaconsfield, collecting donations from passers-by totalling £130, before enjoying homemade cake and hot drinks courtesy of Universal Care.
This year we will be organising five Walk the MS Mile events. The first four – in Thame, Berkhamsted, Marlow and Buckingham – represent the distance people travel from the north, south, east and west of our patch to come for treatment at our Centre. The final walk will be in Aylesbury, the largest town to our Wendover Centre. More information about each walk will be available in due course, but please put the dates in your diary:
  • Thame – Tuesday 20th September
  • Berkhamsted – Wednesday 21st September
  • Marlow – Thursday 22nd September
  • Buckingham – Friday 23rd September
  • Aylesbury – Saturday 24th September
