5th Birthday Celebrations get underway with cast of Avenue Q

As Aylesbury Waterside Theatre approaches its 5th Birthday, the celebrations have officially begun with fuzzy friends from award-winning musical, Avenue Q getting into the party spirit! The cheeky puppets enjoyed a pre-show party and wished the venue a happy 5th year before curtain up on their Wednesday performance -part of the week-long run at the theatre until Sat 9 May.

To further mark the milestone theatre staff will be embarking on a challenge they hope to be their biggest charity fundraiser to date, with the Waterside Whittington Walk on Sat 8 Aug. The team will be covering a distance of 52 miles in celebration of this year’s panto, Dick Whittington, and in aid of Florries Children’s Team (an arm of Florence Nightingale Hospice caring for children and families with life-limiting illness).

28 theatre staff will be attempting the entire distance with smaller teams attempting legs of the route, and further staff volunteering as event support. Opportunities are available for local businesses to sponsor and support the event with Waitrose, The Works and local personal trainer Brett Collier from Train with Brett so far onboard offering donations from food and drink to training sessions. Supported by Mix 96 and The Bucks Herald the team are still looking for transport links to return members from London to Aylesbury, sponsors for their vests and accessories and donations of products including first aid items.
