Wendover CE Junior School – July 2018
As we approach the summer break it is good to reflect on our many achievements this year. In addition to all of the hard work in the classroom, pupils have been involved in a number of successful community based projects, including visits to St Mary’s Church and Wendover Library.
Our School is now a Dementia Friendly organisation – one of the very few in the country. All our children have received training about dementia and our School Council has been out and about in the local community to find out what people know about dementia and to encourage them to find out more. Our link with the PACE School in Aylesbury has been strengthened through a visit from Polly Kempson, Joint Head, fundraising activities and supporting PACE’s Paralympic games at the Stoke Mandeville Stadium. The Junior Road Safety Officers have been busy too, organising a number of initiatives to encourage us to walk, scoot and cycle to school. Our PTA has gone from strength to strength this year, organising a number of successful events; children have also been enterprising and have been part of planning our forthcoming Spanish theme day and disco. Alongside all of our educational visits which support children’s learning, this has been a very exciting term.
I would like to thank everyone for all of their hard work and commitment this year in making our school the wonderful place it is. Teachers and staff are already planning for September – I am sure next year will be every bit as exciting and successful as this one. If you would like to be part of our team and could give just a little time as a volunteer, then please contact the school office: admin@wendoverjunior.co.uk.
