Wendover CE Junior School – Summer Term 2016 Update

As we begin another busy term at Wendover CE Junior School, it is good to reflect on the progress we have made this year so far. Our school values – the 4 Rs of Respect, Reflection, Responsibility and Resilience – are truly embedded and are the core of what we do at Wendover. We are now reviewing our vision for the future.

Building on the success of last academic year, we have continued to further improve our school. As well as focussing on the three improvement objectives agreed with Ofsted inspectors in June 2014, we have been improving as a Church school. We were delighted to welcome Reverend Tim Harper last term who conducted our SIAMS Inspection (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools). The result of the inspection was well-deserved, particularly since expectations under the new framework are far higher than previously so. The full report can be read on our school website: http://wendover.eschools.co.uk/website/school_performance_information/180975. We continue to work with the Buckinghamshire Learning Trust who visit regularly and confirm that we are a Good school.

The school has seen a number of changes to our building recently, with the north end being developed so that we have 7 full-size classrooms with additional rooms for small group support. This is part of the expansion works to allow us take the ‘bulge’ class in September 2017.

Our children have been strengthening links within the community. The Easter Service at St Mary’s Church was well-supported and our Y3 pupils have recently begun a series of visits to the St Leonard’s Care Home in Aylesbury. Our ‘Big Pedal’ fortnight in April saw many children cycling and scooting to school and we continue to offer many opportunities for children to engage in extra-curricular activities.

We welcome visits from prospective families; please contact the school office on 01296 696822 or admin@wendoverjunior.co.uk to make an appointment.
