We love children’s centres! Join in the fun at your local centre this July

Children’s centres across Buckinghamshire will be throwing open their doors in July to welcome in new and old faces as part of a special celebration month.

‘We Love Children’s Centres’ is the name given to the celebration and across the four weeks of July, centres will be laying on a host of free activities and events ranging from family fun days to picnics in the park.

There is also the chance to enter our competition to win £350 of family vouchers. Everyone who attends an event at a centre and completes an entry form will be entered into the free prize draw. (Terms and conditions apply).

Now in its third year, the promotion aims to highlight the fantastic work the 35 children’s centres in Buckinghamshire do in working with children under five and their families, and to encourage more people to visit their local centre to find out more about what goes on.

As well as providing a central hub to meet friends and play, children’s centres also offer a range of support and advice to families to help children learn and keep them safe and healthy.

Centres run regular sessions for babies, toddlers and children in pre-school and nursery. They have a wealth of information on a wide variety of topics such as weaning, children’s behaviour, funding for two year olds, finding a childminder, home safety, getting ready for work and much more.

Zahir Mohammed, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said: “Children’s centres play a vital role in the heart of our communities, giving parents and families a fun and informal place to meet and also to get help and support if needed.

“If you have never set foot inside your local children’s centre, now is the time to go in and discover what goes on and get involved.”
