Wendover bypass surfacing starts Friday
A two-week programme laying a very low noise surface on Wendover bypass starts at 7pm on Friday (September 20) with a weekend closure for preparation work, until 6am on Monday.
During the next fortnight from Monday 23 September the bypass will close every weekday night from 7pm to 6am, with narrower lanes and a 30mph speed limit during the day. A second weekend closure from 7pm on Friday 27 to 6am on Monday 30 September, will allow contractors to finish surfacing by Friday 4 October.
Diversion routes will be clearly signed and advanced notices have been placed on all major approaches.
Mark Shaw, Buckinghamshire County Council Deputy Leader and Transport Cabinet Member, said: “I realise there will be some disruption but I hope everyone will bear with us. This is the first time we’ve laid very low noise surfacing in the county so it’s exciting for us as well as for Wendover residents, who will get the specialist surface they overwhelmingly opted for.”
The project’s £1.51 million budget is being funded by HS2 as mitigation for the extra noise from construction traffic.
