Wendover CE Junior School – Christmas 2019/New Year 2020

It is hard to believe that Christmas is nearly here! The autumn term has been another very busy one and it seems to have gone so very quickly.  We started the term with our new school vision:

We aim to be the school of choice at the heart of our community.

Through living our Christian values, all children and adults at WCEJS have the opportunity to flourish as individuals.

We nurture the curiosity to learn, the courage to lead and the compassion to care.

Together with our vision we have three new strategic goals: children flourish; staff thrive; partnerships develop.  We have already begun a number of exciting projects to ensure that we continue to strengthen our provision in each of these areas over the next three years.

We have reviewed our curriculum too, ensuring that we offer the best provision we can – a broad curriculum enriched by many activities within and outside of school.  Children have worked closely with students from the John Colet as part of biology week and with children at John Hampden (anti-bullying ambassadors and our Junior Road Safety Officers).  It was lovely to see the Year 2 children at our first Nativity performance this week; Year 3 will be singing to residents of Cherry Tree House and at the Monday Club Café in Wendover before the end of term.

Children continue to flourish through our extra-curricular programme.  As well as clubs in school, they have competed against other schools in multi-sports, cross country and gymnastics recently.  Our gardening club has also received an award from the Royal Horticultural Society and we have been working with St Mary’s Church to provide a Peace Garden in school.  As well as all this, children have been busy raising funds for local and national charities.

We would love to hear from you if you have a special interest or expertise that you would like to share with our children. Additionally, we would also love to hear from anyone in the community who is interested in joining our Governing Body. Please contact the school office: admin@wendoverjunior.co.uk.
