Wendover Celebrates 2016!

Following the success of Wendover Celebrates in 2012 and 2014, the time has come to think about a 2016 event.

Wendover Celebrates is a Charitable Organisation, created in 2011, to provide Wendover with an event to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics in 2012. The team behind it created a memorable day for the thousands of local people who took part in the parade, the Its a Knockout competition, performed on the stage, watched the RAF build the Jubilee Beacon or just enjoyed the evening concert and the fireworks. It was a real community celebration. Our Medieval Style event in 2014 built on this community spirit once more.

Wendover Celebrates exists for the people of Wendover and it needs your help now if it is to continue.

We need to revitalise the committee and leadership with new people and some fresh new ideas.

We need volunteers, ideally but not essentially, with the following skills:Event / Project Management, Finance / Fundraising,Website management,Catering,Site Management,Marketing / Advertising.

Above all of this, there must be a desire to join a team of like-minded volunteers who have committed to ensuring that Wendover continues to enjoy its own big community event.

There is a lot of hard work involved, with all the ups and downs that come with organising a big event. You need to be prepared to commit to your role, but the reward is seeing thousands of local people having a fantastic day out. There is the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and be a real part of the Wendover community.

The leadership group, who take the roles of Company Directors (Wendover Celebrates is a Company Limited by Guarantee), form the lynchpin of the team. They take the strategic decisions and oversee the Event Management Plan. We must find at least 2 new people to take on this level of responsibility in order for the company to continue to exist and for future events to happen. The future of Wendover Celebrates is in the hands of the people of our lovely village.

Are you up for the challenge? Are you looking for a new direction following retirement or have your children started school and freed up some time? Whatever your circumstances, Wendover needs you.
