Wendover Community Car, March 2022

Many of you will have seen the familiar sight of the green Wendover Community Car on the streets of Wendover. The Covid Pandemic meant that we had to limit our activity for the safety of the drivers, but now we are again fully operational and helping lots of local people to get to places which they might not otherwise go. We are a charitable organisation, staffed entirely by trained volunteer drivers. We aim to meet the needs of those who have limited transport available to them. Our minibus is designed for the needs of disabled people and can cater for wheelchair users, who do not need to get out of their wheelchair to use the bus. But we also provide trips for able bodied people! We do journeys in and around Wendover and Halton. We take folk to do shopping in Aylesbury, to access local facilities around Wendover or to attend social events.

It is very simple to use the bus. We have a co-ordinator called Joanne who arranges journeys – just call on 01296 317769 — and she will book in the time and date for the journey together with the return. The bus will come to your home to pick you up, find a convenient place to drop you off at your destination and then pick you up later and return you to your home.

It’s a great local service but, like many local organisations after Covid, its future depends on you using it. We are now looking to increase the number of people using the car. It is for you and is supported by the Parish Council and other local organisations.

So, if you, or someone you know, needs help with transport needs, please give us a call on 01296 317769.
