Wendover Community Library Improvement Project
Buckinghamshire Libraries held an engagement day at Wendover Community Library on Saturday 22 October to showcase the design concept and plans for the new library. The day was well attended by approximately 120 people. The plans were well received in the community, with a lot of enthusiasm shared on the prospects of additional meeting spaces and an improved children’s library. Attendees also had some excellent suggestions for further improvement which will be considered for the final design.
We’re very excited to have commissioned the artist Kremena Dimitrova to create a unique art installation for the transformed library. After a competitive process, it was felt that Kremena’s concept best fulfilled the brief to maximise the impact of the new design of the library building with an installation that is inspired by Wendover’s heritage and communities. Kremena Dimitrova is a London based illustrator-as-historian, storyteller and lecturer in visual culture and history. She specialises in children’s illustration, comics, murals, public art installations, mapmaking/trails, and visual storytelling in the museum and heritage sectors.
