Wendover Cricket Club – September 2022
Wendover Cricket Club’s senior teams are having mixed fortunes. In the Mid Bucks League, the 1st XI top Division 1 and have secured 3 big victories in the last month versus Bradenham (Ben Pope 68, Jonathan Seabrook 4-14), Lt Gaddesden (Pope 50, Kush Bhargava 54, George Robinson 4-23) and Frieth (G Robinson 5-10). The 2nds in Div. 3 beat Bradenham (Puneet Kapoor 66, Anshuman Pandit 47) but lost to Ley Hill (A Pandit 42) and Aylesbury (Bob Glue 4-36). In friendlies, we chased down 232 at Boxmoor to win by 4 wickets (Jimmy Cook 4-58, Tony Fish 42, Chris Hunt 71* & Zac Fish 32*). Other notable performances include Calum Grainge’s 93 at Taplow, Ben Edmonds 55 & Hector Charlesworth 57 at Lt Marlow and Ben Sjoberg 41* at Penn Street.
Junior cricket has reduced during the holiday period but girls cricket has continued with training and games, whilst some matches in most age groups have been or will be played in August. An U8’s cricket festival was held on 5 August and 30 participated. Some juniors have been regularly playing with the senior teams.
It’s not too late to join up with the seniors as their matches extend to 25 September. All enquiries including juniors to Jonathan Seabrook on 07767 148119 or jseabrook@talktalk.net.
