Wendover Cricket Club update, October 2019

As the season comes to the end, Wendover CC’s main highlight in recent matches was the 1st XI’s game at Ballinger in the Mid Bucks League Division 1. Club batting records were broken as after being put in to bat on a perfect batting pitch, Wendover amassed a record total of 350 for 2 declared off 36 overs. James Wootton broke the record for the highest individual score with 209 off just 111 balls, having struck 28 fours and 8 sixes. In partnership with 14 year old Hector Charlesworth who hit his maiden 1st XI 50 and ended on 71*, they added 272 for the 2nd wicket, a club record for any wicket (- beating the previous one of 266* set in 1992 by Bryn Jones & Richard Shearer, also for the 1st XI and the 2nd wicket. This was only the 3rd 250+ partnership in the club’s history.) Ballinger 2nd’s ended on 191 for 9, giving Wendover victory by 159 runs.
