Wendover Cricket Club update, October 2019

As the season comes to the end, Wendover CC’s main highlight in recent matches was the 1^st XI’s game at Ballinger in the Mid Bucks League Division 1. Club batting records were broken as after being put in to bat on a perfect batting pitch, Wendover amassed a record total of 350 for 2 declared off 36 overs. James Wootton broke the record for the highest individual score with 209 off just 111 balls, having struck 28 fours and 8 sixes. In partnership with 14 year old Hector Charlesworth who hit his maiden 1^st XI 50 and ended on 71*, they added 272 for the 2^nd wicket, a club record for any wicket (- beating the previous one of 266* set in 1992 by Bryn Jones & Richard Shearer, also for the 1^st XI and the 2^nd wicket. This was only the 3^rd 250+ partnership in the club’s history.) Ballinger 2^nd’s ended on 191 for 9, giving Wendover victory by 159 runs.
