Wendover FC – April Update
We start this month with exciting news for you. The first team have reached the final of the Oving Cup which will be played on Easter Monday at the Oving ground. This match will mark 70 years since Wendover FC won the cup in a match which saw Callum Thomas’ Grandad part of the team which scored to victory. A photo of this team can be seen on our Facebook page.
Behind the scenes the committee and club are working hard planning our annual 5 a side tournament. As always we are committed to making each year better than the last and will be confirming a date with you all soon.
We would now like to have a moment of your time to talk about this months player of the month. This months player is possibly the most deserving of this honour although let’s not go on as I can feel his ego inflating from here. If you were to scroll back through 15 years of WFC team sheets you are likely to notice one name stands out for consistency…..
Renato Passaro. He is our current longest serving player (however much his brother disputes this fact!) and also the Club Vice Chairman who will also be stepping into the very big shoes of Club Secretary at the end of the season.
With more injury comebacks than Ledley King Ren’s long awaited testimonial is again on hold as he is still the 2nd name on the team sheet next to everyone’s 1st choice Wendover’s own Scott Thomson. He puts his all into ever game and with numerous end of season awards already on the mantle piece from previous seasons, he is already the bookies front runner for more accolades this summer with superb defensive displays again this season.
That’s all for now, keep supporting us on the sidelines each Saturday and catch up on match reports, club news and fixtures on our Facebook page.
