Wendover FC – January Update

We head into 2017 with exciting news. After a nail biting win in the Berks & Bucks Cup in early December, the 1st Team have reached the quarter finals which makes them the last ADL team standing. What a fantastic achievement for the Black & Golds and to show your support please visit our Facebook page to check the dates of our next fixture.

We held our first Wendover FC Quiz Night in late 2016 which saw friends and family come together to test their general knowledge. The night was a roaring success and saw us raise £150.00 for The Chilterns MS Centre.

January’s player of the month goes to Tom Fortune. After playing a handful of games last season and with his Dad (Simon) being a member of the Committee, Tom wasn’t a new face at the club when he joined us at the start of the season. He was however the youngest player in our 1st team which saw him be thrown into the deep end but he has risen to the challenge. With some changes in player’s position during early season, Tom has found himself as first choice left back. With a run of fixtures against good standard opposition, he has quickly adapted to Men’s Football and in his first 3 starts, picked up 2 Man of then Match displays. Tom is fast become a favourite with the fans and players alike but what we at WFC love most about Tom, is that he is a true Wendover lad who through and through is setting a great example to our younger players in the Juniors, of how they can progress into men’s Football and remain at the heart of the Wendover Club.
