Wendover Library Official Garden Opening

With our own funds and enthusiastic green fingers in our happy band of volunteers, John and Margaret Currell, Jean Western and Jane Grohmann, we have now acquired new tables and chairs for our secluded garden at the library, where you can enjoy reading and relaxing in this fine summer sunshine.

Saturday, August 3rd 2013 was a sunny, warm morning for our official opening, when the garden was decked with bunting and a table full of pots of tea, coffee, soft drinks, cakes, many made by our volunteers who were also on hand to serve. Is there no end to their talents?

We were also delighted with local girl Rowan Carter, 18 years old, who entertained us with her singing from the musicals as well playing jazz sax. Having just taken her gruelling ‘A’ levels Rowan went on to sit her grade 8 piano, grade 8 jazz sax and an advanced certificate in singing on June 30th. She has already achieved grade 8 in clarinet, alto sax and voice. From the performance she gave us, we’re sure you’ll be hearing a lot more of Rowan in years to come.
