Wendover Parish Council – Matters Arising, April 2023
View from the Chair
Well so much for spring! It is snowing heavily as I write this View! Parish news: the clock has been repaired again, so hopefully that will last for a few more weeks or even years, this time. It is lovely to hear the striking of the hours again.
It has been disappointing to hear about fires being lit in various green spaces during the half term holiday. This is clearly dangerous and unacceptable, and any information should be shared with the police or the Clerk.
Also, we have seen several dogs around and in the Hampden Pond. This area is for wildlife and nesting birds so if you have to take your dog inside the fence, it should be kept on the lead. There are other areas where they can run free. It would be a shame to have to ban dogs from that area. There are also fallen trees which are scheduled to be removed before the end of March so please be careful.
Our Manor Waste consultation has started with a very healthy 200+ respondents in the first couple of days. You may have seen our staff at the markets asking people to comment in person especially if they do not have access to the internet, to gain as much feedback as possible. I do hope that you have participated, and I look forward to seeing the results after it closes on 24 March. As part of this consultation a newly revived business group has been meeting, seeking to encourage more visitors to the centre.
We will also be looking at the Community awards, more in the next issue, which will be presented at the Annual Parish Meeting (see advert page 5 and photo). Other exciting news relates to the proposed Skatepark. We have had some tenders from companies to work with us on developing a concept and gaining funding for the project. Our decision will be made on which company is awarded the job, at the Amenities meeting on 21 March. When designs have been drawn up, we will run a survey to see which is the preferred one, as we did for the Haddington Park, so watch this space!
On a financial front, Bucks Council have agreed a balanced budget (as have WPC), which includes more for potholes, a desperate need, and without a loss of other services. It is good to know that we can count on those that we currently have in place.
I think that is it as I have run out of space. See you on 20 April at our APM.
