Wendover Parish Council – Matters Arising, March 2023
View from the Chair
As I write this, the de-vegetation of the canal towpath is well underway, in preparation for the refurbishment (p18). The Wendover Canal Trust (Formerly the Wendover Arm Trust) have been busy removing vegetation from the canal towpath from Wharf Rd to Halton Bridge. This is in preparation for the path upgrade later this year. The fence on Wharf Rd has been uncovered and there are plans to replace it with a wall and railings to improve its visibility, a possible example is shown below, right.
Climate Action Wendover have replaced those trees and whips which failed to thrive over the hot summer (a distant memory!) in the various parks over the weekend of 4-5 February and we hope they will fare better this year.
The Grounds team have been using the new siding out machine to tidy up areas with overgrown paths which are now looking great. Unfortunately, due to the width of the machine some paths cannot be accessed, so some manual work will be needed, time allowing.
Buckinghamshire Council has made the order to implement the findings of the parking review. They do have 3 years to complete this, but we are hopeful that it will be done before the time is up.
The latest HS2 Schedule 17 application for Small Dean etc has been submitted to Bucks Council. The WPCHS2 working group have produced a response which can be found on the website: www.wendover-pc.gov.uk/post/small-dean-s17-wendover-parish-council-response
The clock in the Clocktower has once again been smitten by the “not working bug” but we are hopeful that by the time you read this, the repair will be completed.
That’s all for now, so I’m off for a cuppa in the sunshine! Roll on Spring!
