Wendover Parish Council: Wendover’s Ash Trees

You may have heard that the British Ash tree is under threat from a serious fungal disease called Chalara fraxinea. The Parish Council cares for 32 Ash trees and so far there isn’t any sign of infection. Our groundsman Andy, who is always about the village, has instigated a regime to ensure that we are informed and ready to act at the first signs of a problem.

We welcome the public’s help in keeping an eye out for signs of the disease in the wider Wendover area. Information on what to look for when you’re out and about will be posted at the Clock Tower.

If you see anything please notify the Forestry Commission helpline: 08459 33 55 77 (8am – 6pm Monday – Friday) plant.health@forestry.gsi.gov.uk More information is available at their website www.forestry.gov.uk/chalara
