Wendover Scout Headquarters Gets Makeover

If you have walked past the Scout Headquarters in Clay lane recently you may have noticed a few changes.

A team from PerkinElmer, as part of the company’sCorporate Responsibility Day, offered a day’s voluntary work.Ateam of 13 duly arrived on the 24th July and set about the mammoth task of painting 320 feet of wooden fence panel. The team paintedboth sides, including the side backing on to the Poplars. Over 60 litres of paint applied in 5 hours. The team only stoppedworking for about an hour while the rain went over.

Also thanks to grants from Wendover Community Trust and Aylesbury Vale Community Chest Micro Grant, wehave been able to build a wooden pergola andstands for sandpits andstoves. This isto give shade and an outside covered cooking area which can have lighting if needed and be used most of the year by the Scouts and Jack in the Box Preschool.

The Scout Group isrun and managed by a large team ofvolunteers and the additional help given by companies like PerkinElmer and grants from WendoverCommunity Trust & AVDC Community Chest help to improve the Scouting on offer to the young people of Wendover.
