Westcott roundabout traffic lights from Monday

Contractors building a new roundabout on the A41 at Westcott are ahead of schedule, and will start excavations immediately next to the Bicester Road from Monday (10 February).
This means temporary traffic lights will be needed at the High Street junction 24 hours a day from Monday to Friday until Friday 28 February, although the construction team say they will work hard to finish early and remove the traffic lights as soon as it’s safe to do so.
Temporary traffic lights will not be needed at weekends.
Paul Irwin, Buckinghamshire County Council’s Deputy Transport Cabinet Member, said the temporary lights would be manually operated during peak hours to balance traffic flows and minimise congestion.
“I appreciate temporary lights aren’t flavour of the month for drivers, but we do need to keep motorists and contractors safe with good sight lines while construction work is so close to the main road,” said Paul. “My apologies for any inconvenience, and I’m assured the contractors will do their best to keep disruption to a minimum.”
Paul says the roundabout, due to be completed by the autumn, will not only significantly improve how the junction operates, but also create opportunities to expand the area’s economy.
