May 2014 Update from Wendover Men’s Football Club

Congratulations to The Wendover First Team who reached the Marsworth Cup Final. Unfortunately they lost valiantly to Bucks CC FC, and can go away with their heads held high, after performing admirably against very strong opposition.

On their last league game of the season, the team drew 3-3 at home with Long Marston. Tom Shepphard, Jamie Spurden and Steve Wallin were the scorers for Wendover.

They finished the league campaign in 5th place in the Aylesbury District League Division One which marked another very successful season in respect of provisional targets and with an attractive style of football on display it is onwards and upwards again for next season.

Wendover Reserves managed a final day victory winning 3-2 away, against Bucks CC Reserves. The club finished in 9th place in Division 3 finishing above Ludgershall Reserves and Aylesbury Wanderers who were both relegated.

The Reserve Team are looking for a new manager ahead of the new season and with our AGM at the start of June we welcome anybody who wants to join or help our fantastic club in any capacity.

Another big positive this season is our ever growing relationship with the WFC Juniors that is going from strength to strength. This bodes very well all round for the future.

Training is to continue for the next few weeks from 6.30pm every Tuesday at Wendover playing fields at the John Colet School. This gives our current players and any provisional players for next season the chance to come down and get involved in the ‘off season’ in our as always friendly environment. We look forward to welcoming any new players down.

Thank you to all who have supported the club in any way this season, and special thanks to our fantastic sponsors Sweeney’s Budgens of whom we have shared a great first season together!

We now look forward to seeing you all over summer for some exciting events up at the club.
