‘Win Win’ for Lucky Lottery Winner and Local Hospice Care
Malcolm Flisher, a local South Bucks patient, was delighted to be asked to press the button to start the annual Hospice Lottery Partnership Christmas Superdraw yesterday at South Bucks Hospice.
5 lucky winners were drawn with the top prize of £5,000, kindly donated by DOCTORnow, being won by a lucky local lady. The winner used to volunteer at one of the partner hospice shops and is hoping to return shortly.
She said “I joined the lottery because it is a fantastic way to help raise valuable funds for local hospices, I never expected to win and was delighted to receive the call – I still can’t believe it”. After the initial shock had worn off, she said she hopes to go on a holiday to the Canaries to find some Winter sun and also treat her two sons.
Strongly supported by many people in the local community the Superdraw has raised an incredible £49,158 meaning the real winners are the local patients at each of our 6 member hospices. This money, which is additional to the weekly draw, could fund the salary of a specialist hospice nurse for 18 months, a fantastic achievement. A big thank you to all who bought tickets.
Further prizes which have been generously donated by local organisations also included:
Second prize – Dinner, Bed & Breakfast at The Kings Hotel in Stokenchurch.
Third prize – Dinner, Bed & Breakfast at Stoke Place in Stoke Poges.
Fourth prize – Meal for Two at any Oakman Inns venue.
Fifth prize – Traditional Afternoon Tea at Shendish Manor in Apsley.
