Wendover Neighbourhood Plan June 2017

The Feedback report on phase one of the engagement process, the February 2017 Launch Events, is now on the website www.neighbourhoodplan.org.uk.

Briefly

  • Concern about the transport system and its impact on people working, shopping, or visiting here. Improvements for private and public transport users, walkers and cyclists.
  • Housing provision must be affordable, and meet the needs of renters or buyers.
  • New housing needs matching and concurrent increases in the provision of schools, education facilities, medical centres, sports and leisure facilities, and places to meet and socialise.
  • A variety of shops, businesses, banking and other facilities in the commercial centre providing for the community’s needs.
  • Encourage and support the development of new businesses through the appropriate provision of accommodation, a business hub/shared IT and other facilities, account be taken of the financial costs to businesses and means sought for their alleviation.
  • Support for the Green Belt: desire to value, enhance and preserve green spaces.
  • New housing should be limited and within the existing built up area. The site at RAF Halton should be developed appropriately.
  • The imaginative and sustainable redevelopment of RAF Halton, supported by the necessary infrastructure, could be of great potential benefit meeting housing needs and the providing facilities.
  • Considerable opposition to development on any of the suggested sites given their position within the Green Belt and based on the public desire to preserve the Green Belt.
  • A need to retain the intangible benefits of living in Wendover, its built heritage, its community spirit, and to preserve what was best for residents and visitors.
