Working together with local communities in Denham, Gerrards Cross and Chalfonts

That is the remit of the Denham, Gerrards Cross and Chalfonts Community Board and in its first 12 months the board has succeeded in establishing strong partnerships in all local areas.

At the board’s meeting on Thursday (8 July), the group looked back at some of the key achievement of the past 12 months which include:

  • Establishing six working groups to discuss common themes and priorities, and to look at applications for funding support.
  • Focusing on helping the environment through the Climate Change and Environment sub-group, allocating funds to tree and wildflower projects in the area.
  • Supporting six local organisations via the Crisis Application process to help ease the financial effects of Covid and the lockdown periods.
  • Supporting the primary plans for a Community Fridge in Chalfont St Giles, to redistribute surplus supermarket food to local residents in need, benefitting those who are in food poverty in the surrounding areas.
  • Funding the Men in Sheds project in Denham to address social isolation, mental health and wellbeing.

Looking ahead to the coming year the board will focus on:

  • Wellbeing and safety
  • Economic recovery
  • Environment
  • Highways

Action groups will be set up to delve into each area in more details, looking at ways to address any issues and work in partnership with groups and individuals to make improvements and changes.
